The #1 Promotional Product Recommendation

Truth be told I’ve been avoiding my office the past few months.  Part of it is my heartbreak over the loss of a faithful friend, my specially built computer got my firms first ever virus in 10 years and died in late November.  A graphic designer can go without food and beverage for days, but the loss of technology to express creativity is well frankly like having a certain appendage, ahem, cut off.

My brother, who built the computer, did manage to restore its brain, but the pyuter’s spirit was broken by “Dr. Evil” the maker of the virus and while it sees  the data drive, it just refuses to access my files.  With client responsibilities still afoot, I’ve had to set my pal aside to use lesser computers in the office.  For the graphic designer the computer is the heart of organization in the office.  When the computer is sick, the rest of a reasonably orderly office for the sufferer of ADD becomes in total disarray.

Today, tackled the desk mess, sorted through the 600 some cards from the past year.  Regretting having given my biz card scanner to my brother, it dawned on me what the ideal #1 Promotional Product that a business should use to promote its business–business card holders. Sure there are techno-brats who disrespect our business investment and trees who scan our cards and then pitch them, keeping them in their phones or computers.  But when I’m giving referrals, I prefer the old fashioned ability to open a card case and pull an extra card from a colleague to simply hand it to the potential client for them.  It’s what you might call the high-touch method.

When small business owners are networking in Indianapolis, they are generally attending small geographic based entrepreneur circles or economic development organizations such as chambers and the like serving the greater community.   People are mixing and mingling and need a simple tool to keep straight who they me and within what group.  A cheap card file is a functional gift to give people.  Better than any pen that will get lost or any shirt that may or may not get worn.  And when done right, you are basically promoting to colleagues the importance of referrals (and to your company) with this promotional product.
